Clinics and services

Antenatal care

If you are newly pregnant, please ensure you are taking folic acid for the first 12 weeks. The local midwife referral service is now accessed by completing an online form and the team will then contact you

Midwives provide routine antenatal care at various hospital locations, please check with your midwifery team.

Blood tests

We provide blood tests at the request of the hospital teams if you have the labels with you.

We can do blood tests for children where necessary in a longer appointment, from age 10. We use a cream to help numb  the skin which needs to be prescribed.

Please ensure you are well hydrated, have eaten, and are warm to help make it easier.

Childhood and travel immunisations

We offer the full range of childhood immunisations, as well as NHS catch up immunisations where indicated. We can also provide immunisations available on the NHS for travel

Chronic disease management

We recommend regular reviews for all patients with a chronic health complaint, including asthma, COPD, diabetes, dementia, heart disease, mental health problems etc. You will be called in annually for this by our team, usually in your month of birth. However, if you feel you need a review sooner, please contact us to request this and we will arrange the most suitable appointment.

The help you can get from us can be supplemented by many charities, found on our local and national support pages. Let us know of any you would like adding.

Dietician

Our dietician works closely with patients who are struggling with weight loss as well as numerous health conditions, providing support and guidance, as well as advice on local pathways for weight loss.

Family planning

We provide advice on contraception and we also have doctors who are trained to fit coils and implants at the practice. If you would like to discuss this or arrange a coil or implant fitting, please book a routine doctors appointment first to discuss the options.

Flu vaccination

We run annual flu clinics on Saturdays from October, ask at reception for further information. If are eligible for a flu vaccine, you should receive a notification via the NHS app, by text, by email or by post.

If you are not eligible but want one, several local pharmacies offer a private service.

Joint injections

Several of our GPs are able to inject joints where this is clinically indicated, such as uncontrolled pain from various conditions. You will need to see a doctor first to see if this is appropriate for you.

Mental health practitioner

We have a mental health practitioner who works in the practice on Tuesdays. Patients who are struggling with their mental health might be directed to see her for further support and advice.

Minor surgery

We provide a small minor surgery service to patients for lesions that are covered by NHS commissioning rules. We do not operate on skin lesions that are suspicious of cancer, and will refer these to the appropriate hospital department.

NHS health checks

We perform the NHS health check in the surgery for all eligible patients. We have a recall system for this but if you feel yours is overdue please contact reception or speak to your GP or nurse.

Physiotherapy

We have a limited number of appointments that you can book to see physiotherapy team. These are reserved for problems you have not seen the doctor for.

These need to be requested by telephone by calling 01392 469666
